Welcome to the Group Events pages. You, the attendees, are the only performers here, well, except for the festivals, that is.

The enjoyment and enthusiasm are always present. Newcomers are always welcome and encouraged to join in. If this kind of thing is new to you and you feel a little timid, don't let that stand in your way. There's always room for you to watch awhile until you're ready to join in.

FSGW Foodways
FSGW Gospel Sings
Eclectic collection of hymns and other songs, Singing is generally a cappella and intended for joyful group singing, not as religious services.
FSGW Mini Fest
Two all-day dance tracks, and seven workshop and performance sites, plus unscheduled hallway shenanigans.
FSGW Open Sings
Open sings are held in member's homes, usually based on a loose topic. Everyone is welcome. Come join in the fun!
FSGW Shape Note Singing
Monthly shape-note singing of early American hymns, anthems, and fuguing tunes in unaccompanied four-part harmony.
FSGW Washington Folk Festival
Potomac River Shape-Note Singing Convention
Two days of intense, 4-part, participatory, unaccompanied singing from The Sacred Harp (Saturday) and The Shenandoah Harmony (Sunday). Experienced singers, newcomers, and listeners are all welcome.
